Help with custom fitment
Hi - I recently flared the fenders on my 1990 C4 and I took the car to a local shop to get it measured from custom Kinesis wheels. I decided to start with a narrower tire, figuring that I can increase the width if there is room.
The wheels and tires are on now, and I spent some time studying the back, although I haven't had time to check out the fronts. In the rear, the inside clearance is minimal. On the outside, there is 1.5" from the outside of the tire to the outside of the fender. It look to me as though the offsets were calculated wrong, and the tire/wheels should be pushed further out. I assmue that I will need to put in new studs and spacers. Does anyone have any ideas about Kinesis Supercups, and the possibility of getting them adjusted, or would spacers be my best bet? Also, the Kinesis folks helped to figure out the offsets - should I demand that they resolve this? Not sure that I want to be without wheels for any length of time, though.
Also to consider is that the car sits very low. I've heard that I may need to raise it if I want the wheels pushed out further. Any guidelines on this?
Thanks
Jack

If the wheels don't fit, get back with the Kinesis people, and return them so they can adjust them correctly. You've got 10", give or take, of snow, so maybe now's a great time to do without wheels .
If you add spacers, you're adding weight you don't need to add. And remember that the wheels arc when they move up. I run 10" BBS racing rims, 47 offset with 275's at the track, and they are real close to the fender lip, but don't rub, on my lowered body. Let me know if you want me to mount one up and measure the distance from the tire to the fender lip, if that would help as a reference point.

I actually don't know the offset. I worked with the local shop on some measurements, and the owner there sent that info to Kinesis to determine the offset. I do need to follow up on it, I know...
But the rear are 11" and the front are 8.5". The rear flares are fiberglass, from GT Racing. The fronts are GT Racing glass fenders.
I still have my stock narrowbody suspension, so the stock wide or turbo offsets would not apply.
