Post summer tires for 944 na

I'm looking for advice for replacing the 215/50R16 BFGoodrich tires that came with my 1986 944. I don't use it on a track, but love purring around curvy minor roads at 60 mph. The biggest danger in this is an unexpected sand spill on asphalt on a curve. So, while Yokahama AVS looks really snazzy, and would obviously handle water with aplomb, it may not be the best for me. Any suggestions?

What size wheels do you have? The '86 944 came with 15" x 7" phone dials all around, but it appears that you have 16" wheels. How wide are they?

16"x7" Fuchs all around.
Actually, the 944 was available from the factory with 16" rims by 1985, if not before. I've never seen one with 15" around here.

I put the Yoko AVS ES100's on my Audi and 944 due to the hype. I'm not pleased with either set up. Tires on my A6 are noisy (quattro compensates for the lack of stick) and the AVS' on my 944 for track events B-L-O-W. No one in our club is buying them. Look into the Falken Azenis or Kuhmos if you're running the car hard.

A man with $900 dollars worth of crappy tires.
