Question Small tool to remove wheel lock cover

I was going through my recently purchased 964 with 17 inch wheels. I wanted to make sure I have all the tools needed to fix a flat, and realized I cant find the small pull tool to remove the small coin-sized plastic cover for the wheel locks. This is not a problem on my front rims, as I could pop it off with a screw driver, but the rear wheels are too deep for me to do this (its the wider rim to accomodate 255 tires). Any suggestions on what I can use to pull this off- would a paper clip do it? Seems to be too tight- any suggestions?

Thanks
Andrew

Andrew,
Is this ("C" in photo below)what you're looking for?

I would imagine you could fashion one fairly easily yourself, but I think you would need some heavier wire stock than a paper clip. A thin hanger wire could probably be shaped to work.

They're also available from <a href="http://www.performanceproducts.com/ProductPage.aspx?ProductName=Wheel+Lock+Key+and+Cover+Cap&productid=1068 23&producttype=20" target="_blank">Performance Products</a> if you decide your time is worth more than the $8 to buy a new one...

Good luck,
Tim

Jeff is correct. Coat hangers are great for this job. You do need a pair of pliers to get the job done well.

So cheap, you can even use them as a one-use-tool.

For early models, any coat hanger will do. For late models, use the skimpy ones you get at the dry cleaners as they are thinner and go in the narrower holes more easily.
