285's on a 9" rear wheel?

Sold my MY02's; which were 8's and 10's. Had 225's and 285's mounted; still have the tires.

Picked up a set of Kinesis K58's. 8's and 9's. I've seen some run 285's on the 9 inch rears and I am aware that others do not recommend it.

Would like to use them if I can, but obviously don't want to push the limits too far and end up driving a 3-wheeler around turn 6.

My street-only wheels are 8's ad 9's wrapped in 235's and 285's but there is no real strain on them. The K58's will see (non-slick) track use.

General consensus before I give Tirerack a call?

Danke,

For street use I would use 285s but for dedicated track duty, 275 section width would be the max that I'd comfortable use. Your are in the DC area? If you are close to Radial Tires in Silver Spring, stop by and ask for Sam or Paul- they can give you expert advice and service is good if you need a new set of tires.
