Default track wheels/tires for 08' cayman S

I just finished off the original michelin PS2's that came on carrera S 19" wheels. I need to get a dedicated track wheel/tire set, R compound, although probably not ready for slicks yet.
Any suggestions? Also need to replace the original set for street use. Trying to keep the cost reasonable. Wondering if I should use the carrera wheels for the track, get cheeper rims for street driving.

PJR,
I have a set of perfect 8X18 and 10X18 Porsche OEM Lightwieght Carrera III's with Michelin PS2's.
These would make great track or street wheels. I am asking $1,200 plus shipping.
Rear tires P265/40R18 40% left
Front tires P235/40R18 70% left

I have 18's on my 06 Cayman S, and it is tough to find track tires that preserve the front/rear tire size stagger that the stockers have. I have tried to do that so as not to confuse the ABS and other electronics. I ended up with R-888 R compounds. While some really like them, I've been dissapointed with the grip, which I find to be similar to the PS2 stockers. My data acquisition agrees with the butt dyno on that. At least they don't squeal as much as the PS2's. I plan on trying some NT-01's next time, unless something better becomes available in our size.

hope that helps,
Dave

thanks for the offer Max, but I am looking to get a new set. I may just replace the PS2's or see if michelin cup tires will fit.

After reviewing the forums and talking to lots of guys, that's pretty much what I did on my '06 Boxster-S except my original rims were 18's.

I put NT01's on the original Porsche rims (235/40 front & 275/40 on the back) and Hankook Ventus V12 evo's (235/40 & 265/40) on a new set of Victor Equipment rims for street use / rain days at the DE's.

Sorry but I don't have any track time myself on the NT01's yet but most people I talked to liked them. The Hankook's have been fine for regular street driving tho' I haven't had the chance to push them yet.

I bought a used set of OEM 18" Cayman S wheels off Ebay and mounted 245-40 and 275-35 R888s. Like Dave DE, I expected more improvement over the PS2s. I'm leaning toward Michelin Sport Cups next although they don't offer the best rear size (265-35)

just about anything this side of a full slick will be grippier and less expensive than the PS2's

A full set of new PS2's are going to run 1622 dollars for a set of 4

You could get a full set of Hoosier R6's (arguably the best R-compound track tire available with a DOT rating) for 1280 dollars.

(Both prices are quoted from Tire Rack, do not include shipping, and assume 235/35 R19 front fitment and 295/30 R19 rear fitment)
