1989 930 tire choices
Good afternoon. I've recently purchased my fourth PCar - a 1989 930 cab (#584 of 600). The car needs tires all around. The wheels are the factory stock (as is everything else on this car!!) 16's - so the fronts are 205/55/16 and the rears are 245/45/16. What brand of tire are people putting on their '89 930's with factor wheels?? Potenza RE750? Michelin Pilot Sport Cups?
All recommendations graciously accepted.
Thanks.
Dan

Of course, you could cross post to the 911 Turbo area but:
You could run in the front, on your stock wheels, either 205-55-16 or 225-50-16
For the rears, you would run a 245-45-16.
From a performance perspective, running the wider (225 front / 245 rear) combo would be best. Plus, they help fill out the fenders a little bit more.
Some brands may even have a 265-50 or 265-45 that you could put in the rear.
As for brands? that depends upon how you use the car. Also may be determined by the Size of tire you wish to run.

Thanks racer. I should have been more specific - I'm looking for tire recommendations as I will be keeping the stock wheels (205/55/16 front and 245/45/16 rear). No tracking. Spirited driving but that, for me does not mean at the limit driving.
SO-2's aren't made any more nor are SO-3's. My choices seem to be Michelin Pilots (not a big Michelin fan), Conti's, Bridgestone RE750's, Fusion ZRi's, and a few others. So I was looking for what people have used and whether or not they like what they're running.
Thanks.

Not much available in 16's...
I like the Michelins, myself.
I have run Toyo RA-1's and the compound makes up for them not being very wide & the ride isn't bad either.
