My 1980 928S EURO weighs in at less than 3100 lbs. They have alot of aluminum in them.

OK, this is the jack I would like (based on its low saddle height for my lowered car) but I want a lighter version to carry in my trailer. It is an Omega Low Profile Service Jack-2 ton capacity with a 2.75" minimum saddle height.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to a lightweight but low height jack?http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...9613_200329613
Thanks

Hi Jason
Its about 95 lbs., which is fine for my garage but not for my trailer.
I am looking for something like it but lighter; not sure it exists.
If you like this Omega jack, I found that you can buy it with free shipping from Tooltpia.com (I think that's the name); Northern Tools charges about $75 for shipping.

Whoa...That's a chunk of metal!

Think I'll need to spend a bit more time at the gym before I get that one...

Happy Holiday,

Jason

Hi Jason
I hear you; if you want a jack for the track, there are lots of lightweight ones (still 40 lbs. or so but even the one I use, which claims to be low, has a saddle height of 4", which will almost but not quite get under the side skirts of the lowered track car; its a Crewline 1 1/2 ton from Sams or some other discount store).

OK, I may have found a low profile portable jack. It is $200 delivered from Autobarn.net and is described thusly (I'll report back once I get it and try it out):
The Model 200T floor jack is built with our traditional American Forge and Foundry quality, perfect for today's lower-profile "tuner" vehicles. It lifts quickly with double-pumper technology from a low 2-3/4" to 20".

* Low 2-3/4" pick-up height
* Universal joint technology and precision valve for a more controlled release
* Safety valve provides critical overload protection
* Pinned saddle w/ padded saddle protector
* Steel Yoke
* Tough powder-coated frame for longer shop life
* One-piece, foam-covered 50" handle for ease of positioning, pumping and storage

How high does it lift?

Well, based on the snip above, I would guess 20".

Well, I have the jack and it looks like it is worth the $. I have not used it yet (car is up on stands) but it looks like it will be low enough for my (lowered) 993.
It is heavy - 90 lbs. but weight in a floor jack isn't a bad thing unless you have to pick it up. Since I won't be using it at the track, that's OK.
At this point, it looks like the American Foundry and Omega jacks are worth investigating if you have a low car.
Kudos to autobarn.net; jack was ordered Monday 12/31 and it arrived that Friday (despite the intervening 1/1). Not bad.
