Okay I had the 265x35x18's put on the rears today to replace the 285x30x18's and they look horrible. It looks like the tire isn't wide enough for the rim and I have some ricer tire going on in the back. I looked at this thread and also the Porsche spec for 1999 18's and that is the tire they listed. What happened? The rim I have is a 10" 65 offset in the rear with a 265x35x18. Do they all look this way? I don't like it.

Did you go with Dunlops?
I have 285/30's and they look abt right. Probably could have even gone with a 295. Can you exchange them?

I don't think I can exchange them but they only have about 20 miles on them. I'm sure I could sell them and get most of my money back. What Dunlops do you have that are 285s? I couldn't find any. I ended up going with the Dunlops in 265 instead. I'm going to try them and see how I like them on this car.
Beautiful car by the way. I've never seen a turbo in that color before.

I've got Bridgestones. I like 'em, but apparently nobody else on this thread does. I think the naysayers may be a little more track oriented... I think they are a great street tire - at least I've had good luck. I'm now considering a Toyo for the 944.
Thx for the compliment. The color is called Prussian Blue I think.

Tirerack does have the SO 2A's in 285/30-18. (They also have the SO 2's, SO 3's & Michelin Sport Ribs too.) I was hoping you were going to try the SO 2A's! Anyway, when you get to Tirerack's site, click on "searching for tires" find by size & plug in 285/30-18. It'll show you all makes of tires Tirerack sell in that size. I currently have the Pirelli Rosso Assimetrico's & don't like them all that much! (285's in the rear)

Yeah I actually went down to 265's for handling purposes and to see if it's actually made a difference. If these don't work out I'll go back to 285's. I really don't like the way the 265's look on the car at all, but we'll see if this helps with the oversteer at all.

They are loud & get worse with wear, the ride also gets harsher. They handle really well, but that deteriorates with wear. They also melt off & don't last long. All this & they are not cheap!

FWIW, I just switched fromt eh rossos to the S02As and they are great so far. they are 225/40-18 and 285/30-18 and they look terrific. They handle about the same as the rossos when new! Very happy with my purchase.

I didn't do a search so don't shoot me but what is the difference between the S02's and the S02A's? I will be due for new tires in the spring and currently have the S02's and other than the noise they are not bad. Not so great in the wet but never let me down in the dry.
