NR1 - NR2 -NR3 on Pirellis P ZEROs?
When I first bought my car it came with Pirelli P Zero, assimetricos 285s. On closer inspection, I saw that there were additional #s on the tires. NR1, NR2, NR3. I asked a number of tire dealers, as well as my Porsche dealer what the significance was. No one to date has been able to give me an answer. Any ideas? (I apologize if this topic was posted already..)

Porsche rates tires with "N" codes, ie, N1, N2, N3, etc. The number after the letter mean nothing, ie an N3 is not a better tire than an N1. The code merely means that the tire manufacturer is selling a certain model tire that passes Porsche tire tests. There have been articles on the Porsche web site, in their magazine, that detail how Porsche does their tire testing.

Porsche is not the only manufacturer to use the N designations. There is a difference between an N designated tire and a standard version of the same tire.

Chrysler used to as well, though it appears they no longer use the designation.
