Garage polishing
I have just begun polishing my Fuchs on my 85 M491 at home. I'm using 1000, 1500 and 2000 wet or dry paper for the initial rough polish. Much to my surprise the wheels are taking on a certain patina that doesn't look bad. I've only got a few hours on the wheels but I see potential.
Anyone tried this as a beginning. Lots of work, but I'm bored and have the time. Regards Larry:cheers: |
I've used this method on an intake manifold. Worked well.

I started polishing the aluminum parts on my engine back when I was young.
I am old now, and almost finished with them. On a more serious note, it takes a very long time, but the results are well worth it. Once the sanding is complete, graduate up to the buffing wheels and compounds, which can be found at The Eastwood Company. Oh, it gets messy! |
