Question Can you change the offset of a modular wheel and retain the lip?

Is there a way to go from say an ET11 to ET40 and keep the deep lip on a 2 or 3 piece wheel?

Is it feasable to machine the mounting surface?

Thanks

Not advisable. But, if there is enough meat to do it safely, and in theory, it could be done. However, 29 mm is a pretty good chunk. I wouldn't do it.

Thank you Viken!

Here's another question: is a 16x9 ET60 with a 20mm spacer, the same as a 16x9 ET40? Is it effectively the same and could I use it to compare?

That's what I'm running (16x9ET60 w/ 20mm spacer) and in order to figure out what wheels I can fit, I'm inputing 9" ET40 into this offset calculator:

http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html

Is my thinking and comparison inaccurate? I really appreciate the input!

If a 3 piece wheel by a company like Fikse, HRE, etc, they might be able to rebuild the wheel to another offset.

Yeah, some of these 3-piece wheels have different centers with different offsets. My BBS 17x10.5" 25mm-offset uses a different center than the rear 17x11.5"
