How do you determine the off-set on wheels?

Anyone know the way to determine the offset on wheels?
BTW, I have a 87 944 (951) Turbo, with stock 16" wheels.
Thanks in advance.

It's printed on the inside of the rim.

Check out the "944 Wheels FAQ" on my 951 RacerX website. You have to be very, very careful when measuring the width of a wheel. There are TWO widths on every wheel. Bead-width is what's printed on the wheel (like the picture above), and should never be used to compute offset. Always use the overall-width or outside-width which is from the outside rim-edges, which is typically 0.75-1.25" wider than the 'official' width. This width always has to come from actual measurements. So your your stock 16x7/8" wheels probably measure 7.75 and 8.75" wide on the outside. The optional 16x7/8" Fuchs actually are different widths on the outside than Phone Dials.
