Default documenting my CCW tire paint job

ya I'm cringing as well as I take the sandpaper to these very NOT cheap wheels lolol but with the few spots of road rash and the constant headache of having to polish them in the summer and being annoyed with seeing every spec of dirt/road grime/tar etc. that shows up on them... trying something new.

I've done this once before with a set of rims for my BMW and it came out really nice but those rims were not as expensive as these so I'm going to really take my time and try to do a very top notch job.

I welcome any input, criticism and critiques as I am not a pro. I've read up on doing this quite a bit and ... I'll see how it goes.

In short, sand with 600 grit(lightly) thoroughly clean and clean again then self etching primer, sand smooth (1200 grit) and paint with clear over top.

thanks
Brian

pics = My Porsche with the rims last summer and the rims now.

Keeping them silver / raw aluminum, or going with black or perhaps more green? Personally I think they'd look good in black as they'd kinda disappear in the wheel wells and everyone will focus on the body and your green paint job.

im going to go with black. I dont like that from a distance the details of the wheels wont be seen but i think it will really help the green to pop plus im going to change a few things on the car to black as well. I have a quart of candy green so im thinking about possibly something like a “911” on the inside of the rim. If i did it in candy and did a light mist of black over it so it appears to be kind of translucent..... its a work in progress and im open to suggestions lol. With as eye catchy as this build/car was.. i want it to be unique.

You could do black with a green pin stripe accent. Either the outer lip, or it looks like there is a little lip where the spokes meet the barrel of the rim.

thanks for the input, very appreciated... cuz im kind of hung up on ideas with what to do. I have a tire ready for paint(worked on it today) and im worried about making them just all black but im as worried about making them look to ghetto. Nothing wrong with ghetto just not the look im going for with this car. Been looking at pics/ideas and kind of stumped

All black will look fine. Google images of black wheels on green cars and you'll see plenty of vivid green supercars sporting black wheels, and they look great.

I saw that "Dub" wheel too and wondered if that was too much to be done in your garage. I like that concept more than the huge green lip on the Lambo, but I still think all black is going to look just fine. If you do a gloss black it'll catch the sunlight and the spoke pattern will be visible from a distance.

What about mixing in just a little bit of a green metal flake? This as an idea...but less flake in my opinion. Accent, don't dominate.

great ideas scooby, I like the metal flake. that would add a nice "look closer" effect to the wheels.

The solid green lip I'm not leaning towards just because I think it looks a little to diy but then again with what I've done to my Porsche... I have no room to talk its a bit of an eye catcher lol

For the record... out of all the toy cars I have had, this one has been amazing for comments, pictures, rubber neck etc when I drive it down the road. have had people chase me down just to talk to me or take pictures with it lolol its fun.

Just a quick update. these wheel are all done and came out quite nice. this winter along with the IPD plenum, light weight flywheel and clutch kit and poly trans mounts was the wheels and I gotta say .. had the car out Saturday for the first drive and tons of pics taken of the car as I drove by, few people came up to ask questions about the car and talk to me about it and even had a couple cars call me out to race... super fun time. love the new color on the rims.

Thanks for viewing.
