Default Track Tire Changes?

I’ve got a 2014 Boxster S with all factory performance options (PASM, torque vector steering, sports chrono). I’ve been running Bridgestone RE71R’s on the OEM 19” wheels for DE’s...also running all the neg. camber that the stock suspension will allow front and back. Like the tires, but get mediocre wear and they get greasy 8-10 laps in a session. Here’s what I’m planning to do: Use my 18” TireRack “winter” cheap wheels for my track wheel set. Will use Hankook RS4 tires. My sons get 3 times the laps out of the Hankook vs. RE71R’s, with better grip on their E46 spec BMW’s.

Plan on going from a 19” 235 x 40 front to a 18” 245 x 40...and a 19” 265 x 40 to a 18” 275 x 40 rear. Other than speedometer being 6-7% off, should I,have any concerns doing this?

I have a Cayman S 987.2 which is similar in the wheel department. In 18” , common tire sizes are 235/40-18 F and275/40 -18 rear. That was with Nitto NT01’s and similar with Toyo 888. I later went to pilot sport 2 cups in 19”. Now I went back to 18” wheels and I run Bridgestones RE71R’s. Best grip so far. Front 235/40 and rear 275/35. You have to carefully monitor tire pressures and run them at 36 PSI HOT. So come in after a few laps into your first session and bleed air out.

Not sure why people cross post so often on Rennlist, but you already have more replies on your other thread of the same title..

Thanks, acropora157. I've also had good experience with the RE71's on 19" wheels, with average track tire wear. However, based on others experience, they get just as good performance from the Hankook RS4's, with over twice the tire life...so I thought I'd try a set.
I was at the IMS GP course (F1 configuration) this past weekend and found 36 PSI Hot as the sweet spot for the RE71's. But they did get greasy late in the 30 minute sessions after about 12-13 laps. I got 10 sessions out of a new set of RE71's and flipped them for the last two sessions Sunday before totally using them up (fortunately it was sunny with no chance of rain).
