Bought my first Porsche today.
PO got a little wild with the wax or something. Lots of white residue in cracks. Spent a few hours cleaning it out, but haven't gotten to the Carrera badge in the back.

I'm now the second owner. 2000 Carrera. Manual. 43k miles. Zenith blue metallic. Looks a bit purple sometimes. Car has lived in the Bay Area its entire life.
Haven't pushed the car very hard yet, but I'm enjoying it. It's a great compromise in size and power between the Miata NC and the Corvette C5 Z06 I had.

I will keep a closer eye on this thread for drives. Can't get enough. Went on an epic drive with David (Wayne went few miles with us). Up to Eureka and such. Haven't been since. Miss it....mike, in Livermore

What FourT6and2@ said .. doing a bit of an epic loop (155 miles) in the east, south bay and then heading back up the peninsular.
Meeting at 8am at the parking lot at Pier 30 on the Embarcadero, you won't miss us in Miami Blue and Chalk if you want to come along. Will head east over 80, then through the Oakland hills for break fast Denica's in Livermore. Then south down Mines Rd, West up to Mt Hamilton, west to Los Gatos then up 9 to Skyline and eventually to Alice's (probably around lunch time)
Here is the Google Maps route - https://goo.gl/maps/2Xf1VePun1o .. picture below... PM message me if you are thinking of coming or see you at 8am at the lot on pier 30.

Wooo! It was a fun drive. Saw a few other nice cars along the way. And stopped at Porsche Fremont to check out a GT2RS as well.

IDK how kosher it is, but I've parked at the Sports Basement before. I've also parked on Yacht Rd before.
Doing Hawk Hill? Going down the backside, the one way part, on a bicycle is the best.

Yeah, I've never done it. I think my fitness to do this ride is at the marginal end, but whatever. I'm just going to take BART to Embarcadero and cut over.
What do you think of this route? It looks a little weird to ride on the left side against traffic on the Golden Gate Bridge - is that the customary route? It seems like it would be a cluster with pedestrians and cycling traffic coming the other way.
