For those a little east or a little north...the run from Fairfield/Cordelia on Suisun is excellent. This is a great way to get to Napa.

From 80 eastbound, exit Suisun Valley Rd. This is the first exit after the 680 merge. Go north (left) and just stay on that road. Once you leave the population, it narrow and there are some great twisties. Suisun turns to Wooden Valley Rd and eventually hits a T intersection at St Rd 121.

Option 1) Go left for some tighter twisties as you rise above the valley floor. This eventually spits you out near downtown Napa where you can hit Oxbow for breakfast.

Option 2) Go right for a longer and just as enjoyable route up to St Rd 128. Take a left there and stay on that road. That eventually wraps you around by Lake Henessey and dumps you on to the Silverado Trail. Take a left and have champagne for breakfast at Mumm.

As has been mentioned, and my all time favorite, is Mt. Hamilton, but I approach it from Livermore. Incredible drive on Mines Rd essentially paralleling 680 southbound. The firs time I did the drive, I got to the observatory essentially out of gas. I enjoyed the downhill run basically in neutral and rolled into SJ for fuel.

Both of these are great. Early morning can be wet on both, even ice in winter. Weekends are fine, but if you can swing a week day, all the better.

North bay has some great runs too, HWY 1 along the coast just north of the Golden Gate Bridge and Sir Francis Drake Hwy have been fun. More scenic than twisty. Both trips I ended up at Point Reyes lighthouse, another great spot to check out but the road inside the park was a little rough last time I went after the winter storms.

Hmmm I think it was good, but I got stuck behind some slow poke in a subaru, its kind of tight for overtaking unless you have a forgiving passenger with ***** of steel

I went on a Porsche run a few weeks ago with a local Bay Area Porsche club to Bodega Bay then on to a place called Goat Rock which is about 10 miles from Bodega.


Great coastal drive and the parking lot at Goat Rock is a great site to see.

That's the spot. You just need to be careful as you will go down a grave/rock path to the parking lot (enough room for one car so you need to yield going down and up). I suggest to bring a picnic lunch as the scenery is unbelievable, especially driving there along the coast with some turns and curves.


I would drive it again.
