Local driving class in the Bay Area?
I recently purchased a 991 and I'd like to take some classes to be a better driver and to enjoy my car more. I've looked into the Porsche Driving School in Alabama but I was hoping to find something that's closer.
Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm looking for something perhaps like this:
http://ggcbmwcca.org/driving-events/...ntrol-clinics/
A class where vehicles are supplied would be a bonus, as my wife wants to take the class too but we've only got one 911 and I don't think our other vehicles (a Leaf and a Flex) would be a good substitute!
Thanks,
Fergus

Hey Fergus, check out the Audi driving experience. they supply the cars and dive at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma. also Skip Barber is an excellent organization that also runs at Sonoma and Laguna. Good instruction and both classes are very "wife friendly"

another good option is for you to join PCA...
you can start by looking at the schedule for autocross and driver ed events on
www.pca-ggr.org
the club is a great way to get you into your car and provide instruction for both you and your wife

Check out hooked on driving. Bring the Porsche AND the Flex and take turns swapping cars. I saw a woman out at thunderhill tearing it up in her Honda Fit, she had a blast.
Car control & driver skills are applicable in every make of car. I've heard of someone taking a Leaf out on track but I don't know how long they last out there at full throttle.

Speed-Dynamics is having an open trackday at Thunderhill west on april 4th that has TWO driver's ed sessions.
It's much more informal than a driving school like skip barber. Basically, an "instructor" will go out with you your first or second session, showing you lines, braking zones, etc.
More focused on fun rather than education, but it's seat time nonetheless. Not too expensive either. less than $150
Plus I'll be there
