Default Alas the greatest Independent Shop (LA area)

Well, it took me my entire life....but I finally found the perfect, independent shop to work on Porsches. These guys work on my 55 Speedster, 993s, and even my newer 997. I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am that I found this shop. The owner's name is Marc and he is very knowledgeable. Just tell them Jay told you to get your P car worked on there.

What exactly makes Red Line better than one of the other very highly regarded shops in So Cal?

People are always talking about how great Callas, Aurel & Don's, Stuttcar Service, Arredondo Motorsports and many others. I have also had great service at 200 North Motorworks. It's always nice to find a shop that you feel comfortable and that charges reasonable prices.

I have been to Callas before and thought they were too much money and I wasn't a big fan of "leave your car here and we will tell you what's wrong with it." Aurel and Don were great in the 70s, 80s and 90's- they were even better when they were at Bob Smith Porsche in Hollywood. I've never been to 200 N.

I've been trying to reach 200 NMW today (11/20/13) but I get a message saying the phone has been disconnected or is no longer in service, etc. Do you know whether they've closed their doors?

I have a 993 and it's hard to find a shop that has 15W50 synthetic oil.

Wow, they were good guys that charged very fair prices. Sad to hear that they shut down. Hopefully they get a new location and are up and running again soon.
