Press Release: Miller Motorsports Park: May 19-21

The newest region of the National Auto Sport Association will write another chapter for the history books. NASA Rocky Mountain will be holding the first-ever professional and club road racing events at the newly completed Miller Motorsports Park located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah.
The 4.5 mile long circuit, the longest in North America, will host NASA’s popular and unique blend of Road Racing, Time Trials and HPDE (High Performance Driving Education) on May 19-21, 2006. This soon to be famous, world class facility has drawn the attention of two of NASA’s professional series; US Touring Car Championship (USTCC) and FormulaTR. Both series have both made the Miller weekend a premier stop on their 2006 tours. USTCC features today’s hottest sport compacts and sedans such as the new E90 BMW 325, Subaru Legacy GT, Acura RSX, Mitsubishi EVO 8 and Dodge SRT-4. Future Champ Car and IRL rising stars can be found honing their skills in the FormulaTR series. These young guns go head to head in 1.6 and 2.0 liter purpose built formula cars and always put on an exciting show.
Since NASA will utilize the entire 4.5 mile course, teams from several additional professional series have expressed tremendous interest in racing on this weekend. The teams are looking forward to an early chance at racing on the circuit before they do battle with their competitors later in the season. Club level racers will be in for a treat as NASA is one of the few sanctioning bodies that will be using the entire pro course for a club racing weekend this year.
Just a few of the popular NASA classes that will have the opportunity to take their first checkered flags will be Spec Miata, American Iron, Honda Challenge and Performance Touring. The Performance Touring class allows almost any production based race car, regardless of modifications, by using a performance equalizing approach to classification. Last, but certainly not least, the GTS and BMWCCA race group is promising upwards of 50 cars from all over the western states to take to the track for some clean close racing.
Race prepared cars and professional racers will not be the only ones taking to the track this May weekend. Enthusiasts not ready for wheel to wheel racing can learn the limits of their cars and work on their performance driving skills in HPDE and Time Trials. HPDE offers four levels of coaching and instruction from beginner to budding racer and is open to anyone using their own street or track car in good condition. Advanced drivers will be competing against the clock in Time Trials events to see who can earn bragging rights for fastest time of the day.
