Talking S. CA Headgasket Party!

Alrighty, you asked for it! I have spoken with a few of our 944 mechanically inclined guys, and I'd like to toss a Headgasket Party!

We will need a location, and time and place, over the next two months. I will do my best to oblige you all in time and such. I think Saturday is a good day for that, like last time.

Anyway, the plan is to do my headgasket on Kijo first, as she has no turbo, powersteering, or anything else that would get in the way.

If there is time, maybe we could do another one!

I feel that even if you don't do your own engine work, it's always nice to know what's going on, so you are better informed, and can communicate better with your mechanic.

Feedback, people!

hey! We can do a changing spark pugs and oil party for the 993! Probably just as difficult as it is to do our belts. Seriously, is it that difficult to do those things on the 993?

Julie,
You know I'm in. See if you can rally up some attention in the 944 forums. (993's welcome!)

Default All 993s and other Porsches welcome!

Hm, how to change the sparkplug on a 993...is that like trying to figure out how many Porsche Enthusiasts it takes to screw in a working light bulb!? :roflmoa:

Sure, they can come along, we'd just have to use the manual, and see if we can even find the darned things!

It might be fun just to tell stories back and forth, on the odd things our cars do, lol.

I'll try...but I have my doubts, I can't change the brake master cylinder myself - though I do have a replacement!

Just fighting a horrible flu bug all week, but it seems to be getting better today - but everyone else in the house has it now, ooops!

Caarl, if your car weren't on it's way to Germany already, well, we could probably take care of it, darn it!

Always happy to help out one of our guys!

Heeey, if enough of you would fly out Legoland951 and me, we could do a bunch of cars in Germany, what do you say!? Cheaper that way, eh?

Sorry I didn't respond sooner, been real sick, and now being treated for Sinusitus...OUCH, but I can sing again without pain, heh.

Lightbulb April 10, 11?

Okay, Danno, Legoland951, which weekend can you BOTH be available!?

I was thinking April 10th, so if Murphy's Law hit, we'd have Sunday to fix it...flashes of the 951S, and just doing a simple timing belt, and finding waterpump was trashed keeps haunting me, lol.

What shall it be, or when else can we wrangle you two?

I am interested in learning headgasket stuff - Apr 10th works for me!
Keep posted! I know how to take the intake maninfold, fuel stuff on top, valve drive assy. From there is not a long shot to pulling the head off. We would need to de-pressurise fuel system, drain coolant pull off timing belt. At the same time should probably do valve drive gaskets and head exchange/oil cooler (or whatever that thing is that breakes its gasket and leaks oil in water) What about machining the head? Doesn't that take a week?
Thanks.

Lightbulb Headgasket Party option

April 10th, at Legoland's for the Headgasket Party, since people are really interested in learning about how to do it properly!

He has a car that needs a head gasket, and all ready to go.

It's the best we can do, with losing Danno in this, due to the Pizza run.

Well, anyone up for this change of Venue? He's near the 405/110/22/91 exchanges, so easy for all to get to.
