This is part 4 of AB1824, the first 3 having nothing to do with cars. I wonder what political shenanigans went on to get it tacked on?

I tend to agree, but the law itself allows over step of police if they deem it fitting which definitely sucks for everyone else. My exhaust is reserved, so I am not worried.

Its Kalifornia, land of the lawmakers and politicians that feel they are superior and know better than most. They also feel they should tell you how you should live and do things.

The part about being "subjective" is complete BS.

Yet the people of Kalifornia voted them in.

The problem with socialism is you eventually run out of other people's money to spend.

No it’s not or it wouldn’t be legally sold in California.

California law requires that all vehicles must be equipped with an adequate muffler to prevent excessive noise from the exhaust system. It also prohibits the operation of a passenger vehicle (other than a motorcycle), or a truck with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of less than 6,000 pounds, that has an exhaust noise level greater than 95 decibels, when tested under specified conditions. I should buy a Harley and just rev the *** out of it everywhere.
Not true at all. There is a moto specific statute as well. Has been forever. And you can’t even ship a non compliant moto exhaust into California. All those obscenely loud Harley’s are illegal. There’s just little to no enforcement.

Mods should sticky a thread for anyone to report getting popped for that. I'd be interested in how this will be enforced.
It'd be interesting to see what DBs different exhausts are on our cars as well.

Definitely not. My RS w/ BBi bypass is 96dB at idle.

And you California guys should be happy you don't live in British Columbia, where our law mandates cars can't be louder than 83dB (which essentially renders all F-Types, Huracans, etc. "illegal" in the eyes of our local government).

Dumb law.
