Wayne Smith and I just finished an epic day of driving. 1- Carmel Valley Rd-25-198-33-150. 9 hours door to door from Half Moon Bay with a long lunch stop, and two gas stops. Wayne had an extra hour coming out of Marin.

We're in Carpinteria tonight, heading home in the am. We'll run 33 again. From there we're going over to 101. Question is 58 or 166? Anyone have an opinion/ experience running them?

58 without question! It's more technical, is longer, and prettier. Near the end of 58 take Hwy 229 "Rossi's Driveway" North to Creston (good place to grab a bite to eat), then Hwy 41 West to 101. 229 is single lane, very technical and perfect pavement. Enjoy. After, you will know one of the reason I live here.
