Default Alignment/Suspension shop in Bay Area (east bay)

Can anyone recommend a good shop that does alignment and aftermarket suspension work (preferably near Oakland/Berkeley)? All the places in south bay (like custom alignment) are too far away.

Bauer Porsche Repair in Oakland. Not familiar with them. May have referral for alignment shop.

If you are willing to drive south, SP Motorsports in Hayward. Chasen has taken care of my suspension needs for my GT3.

When i had my 981 Cayman, they did my X73 Suspension retrofit and alignment Griffen in Berkeley did a great job for me.

I still need to get my car aligned and balanced after a DIY suspension overhaul. I have heard positive reviews about Roger Krause Racing from a few local RListers, as well as from Darin @FD and Steve W @Rennsport.

I ended up having my 993 aligned at Roger Krause. They have the KT (kinematic toe) alignment tool which is a specialized rear caster level for the 993 used with the laser alignment bay. From my understanding you need it to correctly align the 993 rear end. Speaking with the owner Roger Krause I came away that his shop has tremendous experience tuning our air cooled suspensions since the 70s.

Plan to spend a few hours if you are going to get both a corner balance and alignment done. My 993 feels completely different and is very precise and planted after the job with my new upgraded RS suspension.

Does anyone have a recommendation for those of us who live in San Francisco? I need to have mine checked after 2 years of rough roads and potholes.
Thanks!

a little south in Daly City, not 100% sure they do alignments, but can atleast send you in the right direction

Wherever you decide ask the shop if they have the 993 KT (kinematic toe) alignment tool. If they do means they have enough business to align 993s to justify it. If they dismiss it as we have an advanced laser alingment rack and don't use it blah blah... I would walk. The KT in the 993 is difficult to align correctly without the tool. When it is out of spec can cause the car to be unstable (loose rear end through turns) which as you can imagine is a safety hazard.

There are countless threads on KT/alignment topic on the 993 subforum.

If it is just an alignment tune-up should be quick. Most of the time on mine was spent on the coilover balance which is more labor intensive. Roger Krause Racing knows how to do it correctly so piece of mind is a factor as well. Drove my car into work and went there in the afternoon. They have a big waiting area and internet so was easy to do some work.

The other shop I heard in the Peninsula who does them is custom alignment in Mountain View. Heard mixed reviews about them. Then again the 993 enthusiasts tend to be OCD about anyone who touches their cars Good luck!

Custom Alignment is solid, have had them do other cars. Haven't heard anything bad, but i'm not referencing 993 specifics
