Hear my despair. I have a new (to me) 1987 944 NA. The transaxle needs some work, possibly a rebuild. The synchronizers are worn, especially the first gear one. Every Porsche specialist shop that I've contacted in the Seattle area says they will not work on an 944 transaxle. Is there anyone who has found a shop that does work on Porsche transaxles? I found a place in Bend, Oregon, that is willing to rebuild the transaxle, but they require that the transaxle be dropped from the car and shipped to them. This sounds like a huge hassle and expense. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
