Seattle/Pacific Northwest area Cayenne owners-Interest in forming off-road group?
 

Hello fellow Cayenne owners. We bought a low mileage 2005 CTT about two months ago and we've begun doing some light off roading in the Highway 2 corridor. No significant mods other than stock 18 inch wheels and 265/65R18 all-terrain tires.

Curious if there are other Cayenne owners in the Seattle/Puget Sound/Pacific Northwest area that would be interested in getting together for some exploratory off road trips in the local mountains.

We've adopted the mantra "We didn't buy it to look pretty, we bought it to use it." So we are thrilled with the on road performance and off-road capability.

I've already been in contact with the owners of Otis, the overlanding Cayenne but hoping to scare up others with a desire to get dirty.

Surely there's someone in the Puget Sound area who enjoys utilizing both sides of their Porsche Cayenne?

I don't have a Cayenne as my off-road-capable vehicle, but if you're willing to tolerate a Land Rover on your excursions, I'd be happy to join you. I've always wondered how capable the Cayenne really is, and I've considered getting one someday. I regularly take my LR Disco out on Forest Service roads and trails for hiking and camping in the Cascades. Good for you for getting your Cayenne out there and using it for what it was designed.

That sounds great. What year is your Disco and is it pretty much stock?

BigBearJoe, my Disco is a 2003. It's been modified a bit to be more capable off-road. The 2003 Disco did not come with a center differential lock, but I updated mine to use the diff lock that came on the 2004 Disco. (Land Rover did some weird stuff with diff locks between 1999-2004). I've also updated the suspension to have a 2" lift and heavier-duty shocks. I changed the wheels to be 16" versus the 18" that came stock, and put 265/75-R16 tires on it.

With the recent dumping of snow and cold winter weather now upon us I know this is not the time of year to go exploring on the forest roads but still I thought I'd give this thread a bump and see if we can continue to gather Cayenne owners that might be interested in some off-road exploring, warmer, drier weather.

Since you are Seattle, jump on the PNWR PCA Facebook page and look up OTISPorsche. They have a VERY prepped Cayenne Diesel and are very active in all sorts of overland, off-road, type stuff with it. Its a cool rig and they are always trying to spread the gospel of the Cayenne's off-road prowess.

Hey, thanks so much for the recommendation of PNWR PCA. I just joined up with their Facebook group and have started making "friends".

Otis is pretty well known around the Puget Sound area and I know those folks are very active across many of the Porsche and overlanding forums. I'm sure we will all meet up sooner or later.
