I think that several compelling cars have come, or are coming, onto the market since the M4 (GT4, M2, etc) and buyers in this category just typically want the cool, new toys.

I don't think people are running away from these cars. As the above poster said, there are lots of options out here and some people always want he latest and greatest toys. The M3/4 is still one of he best cars out there.

I was on the list for the M2 till I realized how scarce hey we're going to be.

If you do have to sell to the dealer, may I suggest trying CarMax as they have given me quite a bit more than other dealers.
