I had previously decided it was just time for me to get something different. I absolutely love this car, but felt it was a good time to try something else. At one time I was thinking that I'd sell it and wait a bit for a white 997tt to come down closer in price and have that be next. Ultimately I'd love an R8, though I question if the V8 would suffice or if I'd "need" to super/turbo charge it. Regardless, the prices of those don't seem to be coming down anytime soon. So that's a longer term thought.
Then more recently I decided with our 2nd baby coming and building a new house that maybe I should take some equity out of the 996tt, and still get another car to enjoy, but more at the $25k price point. Going down that road, I was primarily considering SLK55, 135, S2000. Maybe E46 M3 or 335. Here was the full list that my "internet friends" helped me compile:
Audi B5 S4
Audi B6/B7 A4 (Big Turbo)
Audi B6/B6 S4
BMW 135i - $27k
BMW 335/xi Coupe
BMW E36 M3
BMW E46 330i w/ZHP
BMW E46 M3 - $25k
BMW Z3M Coupe - only 2 in US <$30k and <60k miles
BMW Z4M Coupe - only 3 in US <$30k and <60k miles
Chevy Corvette C5 Z06
Chevy Corvette C6 - $25k
Dodge Viper (Gen 2)
Ford Mustang
Honda S2000 - $18k
Infiniti G37 Coupe
Mazda MX-5
Mazda RX-8
Mercedes E55 AMG
Mercedes SLK55 AMG
Mitsubishi Evo
Mini Cooper
Nissan 370Z
Porsche 996 911 non-turbo
Porsche Boxster
Porsche Cayman
Subaru BRZ/ Scion FRS
Subaru WRX
Subaru STI
VW Mk6 Golf R - $29k
Then one day a friend posted a white Audi TTRS for sale and I surprisingly became very interested in it. I decided to grab it, and thus put my 996tt up for sale with a moment's notice. I'm picking it up this weekend. Ibis White / Black Alcantara Seats, Sport Exhaust Pkg (includes Ti wheels), 30k miles, 2012. 5 cylinder turbo engine, 360hp/343tq, AWD, 18/25mpg, ~1000 in US. Hopefully it holds it's value well for a few years and maybe I'll try something else
