1999 Porsche 911 996 Carrera 2
$26,500

I have decided to sell my 99 996 that I have spent a fortune building over the last year. My desire was to build an awesome street car that would also be awesome on the track, and I spared few expenses doing so. As you can see from the factory options, excellent condition of the car, and maintenance records I had a great platform to begin. Unfortunately with work and family obligations, the car only saw 5 days of track time and 3 auto-x. The car drives amazing! Thanks to Tarett and Goldcrest Motorsports, the suspension on full soft is great on the street, and amazing when adjusted for the track.

Could you say something about the replacement motor? I take it it was a pull-out used, not a reman?

Great question, but not a short answer.

I spent about 45 days talking to different experts online, by phone and in person (Jake Raby being one). I was sufficiently talked out of a reman other than Flat 6's and although I desperately wanted the maestro's engine, cant afford it right now. I happened to be at a local shop when the owner just bought a 2000 baby-blue 996 cab. The car was wrecked lightly in the front, ran well, looked well maintained, and I bought the engine on the spot (he hadn't even received it on the books yet) with a 90 day warranty. The shop did a leakdown and all the cylinders came back great. Judgmental as it may be, I figured a baby-blue cab probably had a pretty gentile life and would be a good starting point.

Fast forward, Goldcrest Motorsports checked out the engine, Leak down again and after they verified it was a good donor, I had them take it apart to do the front main seal, rear main seal, LN Engineering IMS, swap in my new clutch (may 2012) and change the coil packs and plugs. Engine happens to be stonger than the old one.

Wish this had been for sale 4 months ago, before I bought a 1999 M3. Beautiful car, good luck with the sale.

thanks! Ironically, I bought a 95 M3 track car. Much cheaper playground to play in. fun, but not a Porsche, so I'll definitely be back.

I bought a 1999 M3 supposedly to be a backup DD, and it turned out to have been modded into a streetable track car. Damn thing drives me crazy with all of the CELs due to the mods, but the engine is strong.

I had a 2008 335xi, but got rid of it because the suspension and handling was just too soft. I wan't to keep a BMW as we don't have a Porsche dealer locally, and the BMW guys are willing to do alignments on my 911 track car. Nobody else locally will touch it.

Sell your M3, take my M3 in partial trade, and I'll buy your Porsche.

If you would consider a trade for an 84 street/track 911 I am local and interested :-)

Not sure what you would do with the M3 though? Maybe a back up DE car :-)
