Factory M003 Clubsport
Now available from CPR Classic is this stunning 1993 Porsche 964 Carrera RS 3.8 Clubsport painted in its original Guards Red over a Spartan factory racing interior with Recaro bucket seats and the optional factory Porsche roll cage.
This car is one of only 55 examples produced by Porsche in 1993-94 as homologation models for the Carrera RSR 3.8. The M003 Clubsport safety option package included a factory roll cage, fire extinguisher, and 6-point harness. The 3.8 RS Clubsport was as near to a street legal RSR as was available at the time and shares M491 bodywork with 964 Turbo and RSR models of the era along with factory widebody C4 cars.
What sets the 3.8 RS apart from other street versions are lightweight body panels implemented by Porsche including featherweight aluminum doors, an aluminum hood, thinner side and rear glass, and a twin-element fixed rear spoiler for added downforce. The 3.8 RS Clubsport is more than 300 pounds lighter than the 964 Carrera 2 and 600 pounds lighter than a standard Carrera 4.
This 3.8 RS Clubsport delivered with a 3.8L 300HP M64 engine. The engine has since been upgraded to RSR spec; it now reportedly produces 380HP. The upgrade utilized the matching-numbers engine- this 3.8 RS remains numbers matching throughout. The 3.8 RS employs Motronic 2.10 engine management with adaptive knock control and optimized map identification from the factory and a five-speed manual transmission with upgraded steel synchro sleeves and racing ratios for first through third gears.
The car received a major service and inspection in 2015. It has not driven since but was regularly started and warmed up to ensure the engine remains in good mechanical condition. 28,624 original kilometers show on the odometer.
The 964 features independent front suspension with lower control arms, MacPherson struts with combined coil spring, dampers and adjustable anti-roll bars. The rear features a standard limited-slip differential, independent rear suspension with semi-trailing arms, combined coil springs and dampers, and adjustable anti-roll bars.
This Carrera RS 3.8 Clubsport is in outstanding exterior condition. CPR will perform its standard preparation and paint correction as well as completely refinish the factory Speedline modular alloy wheels due to minor scratches. We'll ensure that this 3.8 RS Clubsport delivers in peak cosmetic condition.
FACTORY OPTIONS:
003 - Carrera RS Competition / Clubsport
388 - Cloth bucket seat, left
389 - Cloth bucket seat, right
150 - Operates with leaded gas (no catalyst)
The 964 3.8 RS Clubsport is a remarkable part of Porsche's history. With a limited production of only 55 cars over two years, this car will serve as a centerpiece to any collection and is ready to be shown, street driven, tracked or raced anywhere in the world. If you are a 911 collector, this car is a must-have addition to any RS collection.
