I have a line on a yellow (is that a coincidence?) 17 GT350R with 3100 miles, custom cage, red racing belts and a tow hook. I'm tempted becuase I want to track my GT350 and this is race ready. But I don't know the history and I'm not sure Ford would approve any warranty work becuase it appears to have been raced/tracked.

Instead of wondering perhaps it would make sense to reach out to the owner with your questions

Track days do not void the warranty on a GT350/R. It is what the car was built for and as long as it is maintained properly would not be a concern to me.

+1. Engine blew on mine at the track and was towed from the track directly to my dealer. They replaced engine no questions asked. I have a roll bar and harnesses in it as well. At the end of the day if you build a great relationship with your service manager - they want the warranty work. Also, I have them change my oil, etc so there is a Ford dealer paper trail. I change the oil after every 4/5 track days.

Ford discontinued it and the regular retailers seems to be out of them.

As did I. I think I was the first person on the forums to install a rear seat kit back in mid-2016. As you probably discovered, the kit is lacking... I spent a lot of time at the local Ford dealer looking at Mustang GT exploded diagrams to source the missing studs and screws. Or maybe Ford Performance fixed the discrepancies in later kits?

It does great on the street (low front lip scrapes a bit) and even better on the track. The track performance is not far off the 991 GT3's and it has a sound and feel that must be experienced first hand. They are easy to drive and really do stick like glue in the corners. The only complaint I had was it's a little too heavy, it doesn't feel like a heavy car on the street or track, but on the track it went through brakes and tires at twice the rate the GT3 does due to the additional lbs. Below is a link to a video of me in the R at Barber, that sound!. I say go for the R if you are considering it, this is a really good price and nothing compares to it for the money.

Are the shift lights stock? If not, where did you get them?

I recently purchased a 2018 with less than 400 miles. All set up with Watson half cage, harnesses, full XPEL, tow hook and an extra set of wheels. It's an amazing car. I have a 2016 Mustang GT that I modified heavily for the track but it is no match for the 350R. The GT will be going.

This is an excellent deal. Many dealers are still adding ADM to new orders or even in stock cars. I looked for about 3 months before I stumbled on my car.

The shift lights are standard.

I just sold my 16 R with 8600 miles. This car is priced exceptionally well.

Everytime I drove it I felt like I was in the Bullitt chase scene. The long, wide hood and awesome sound puts you into character.

I was faster in my 991.1 GT3 with less effort around the track, but I had more fun in the Shelby. The sound and manual transmission plays a big part in this. The brakes are epic...especially for a car so heavy.

Rear seat kits have been discontinued. You can get them for a regular GT350 but will lose the matching red stitching. Its worth it if you have kids though. My 5 year old love it, giggled every time I stomped on the throttle, and cried when I sold it.

Front splitter is low and long and very expensive (Ford does not want std GT350 owners buying the R splitter). You will scrape everywhere. Its one of the reasons I sold (could not get car into kids school parking lot).

Awesome, special car at a very good price.
