SOLD: 1999 Porsche 996 Ocean Blue with options 220,222 and 224

I bought this 1999 Ocean Blue with gray interior last year. I have no history of the car before my ownership.

The front and rear bumpers as well as the front hood were repainted at some point in the past. I don't see any signs of the car having been wrecked and I believe the rest of the car has original paint. The car could use a good polishing to make it really shine. All lights work, wipers, etc.

Tires have good tread and good date codes. Wheels are chrome and have some corrosion causing the chrome to flake on a couple rims.

When I bought the car I replaced the water pump, installed a low temperature thermostat, put in a new serpentine belt, changed out the motor mounts and changed oil (DT40) and all filters. I removed the sump cover plate and it was clean. I don't know if the IMS bearing has been changed. But, being a dual row bearing engine and with a clean sump cover I decided to run the car as is. The car runs strong, no oil leaks, no smoke on startup and throws no codes. I can connect my durametric on the car for any potential buyer and you will see no cam deviation, no overrevs, etc. The car has good oil pressure and good coolant temperature. The only issue is the radiator fan on the driver's side is not working. I don't know if it's the relay or the fan motor. However, the car runs cool here even in the summer so I haven't done anything with it. The clutch grabs well and transmission shifts properly....no grinding and not sloppy. Brakes are typical Porsche.... great.

I replaced both AC condensers and the AC drier. The AC in this car is as cold as the day it was made.

There are no burned out pixels in the dash. All lights, gauges, windows, sunroof, etc. work. The seats were recovered with vinyl at some point in the past. It looks pretty good. The only thing not working in the interior is the back rest on the passenger seat will not title the back rest backward. It works fine forward...just won't go back.

This car is a great first Porsche or track car, With fairly rare options 220 Locking differential, 222 Limited Slip Differential and 224 Active Brake Differential and a unique color (something other than silver!) you can gave a pretty nice car to enjoy. Fly in and drive home!

The car is in the Columbia, SC area.

Bump

billh1963 01-13-2019 02:29 PM

Time to bump this thread. Someone come get this car and use it. I'm downsizing (too many cars) and the car isn't getting the love it deserves. I've dropped the price as well.

most likely the pass seat was not assembled correct when it was recovered or a line is pinched. not a hard fix and a dirt cheap price for a nice daily driver

Why put a low temperature thermostat? Why not put in the correct one.

Is it sold?
