Porsche slapped the hands of the speculators on purpose with the Touring spec. Not that the 911-r doesn't have its own appeal, especially the tartan seats...

I'm still one of the few people who believe the 911R is quite special, and those equipped with single-mass flywheel will always command a premium versus the Touring (even though the Touring has the better engine).
However, I won't be able to give you my honest and definitive appraisal until I own BOTH the 911R and 991.2 Touring.
What I really need to do is test drive a 911R. If anyone lives around NYC and is willing to let me drive their 911R... I'll let you drive my 991.2 GT3 (and buy you breakfast/coffee) as a token of my appreciation. lol

Fully agree with OP!
I am not here to argue, create a debate, nor get this thread off-track. I am just agreeing with the OP's statement.
While the Touring is a great car, as a 911R owner, I need not own a Touring to know the difference. Besides opinions, conjectures and whatever there is to make a comparison, at the end of the day, the one who owns the car of his/her choice is the one who will be happy. If you are happy with the Touring, congrats. If you are happy with the 911R, I can certainly relate with you!
Drive safe,
