Impossible centerlock wheel design, no folding buckets for the US, no back seats. It would've been nice if Porsche dedicated the time to make it more special. Did little justice to 1973 RS version by simply removing wing. Seems like an afterthought. I feel that they were afraid to upset the 911R beehive and purposely undershot the GT3 Touring. One of the first things I'll do when I get mine is try to remove the 'GT3 Touring' badge from the rear grille. Rough morning, please excuse my rant. And don't get me wrong... I adore the GT3 Touring, just irritating knowing that they could've easily made it better.

Once the aftermarket comes out with the LWFW for the .2 Touring/GT3 it will close the gap even closer.

@crazyed The 379K number is with 39K in commissions...the hammer was 340K X 8% = 27,200.00 which puts the sellers net at 312,800.00. I was off a bit as I forgot it was a no reserve. The seller received 313K for a 20 mile (really nicely specced) BLACK car. The nice black cars all the way up or down have traded at least 30-40 over similar white or silver cars. That is why the white and silver cars will be trading under 300K.

It was the right price as we predicted (nailed it actually) you can read our Pebble Auction 2018 recap here: https://pors9.com/2018/09/05/pebble-beach-2018-recap/

Right hand drive cars are very rare indeed, which is why it fetched this price.

Exactly not representative of the US market.

See PCA article and sales that mattered at Monterey. It's got our conversational Black R as one of the features! We know rhd is rarer but that's what a Brit is willing to pay over a ready available touring!

The cars in the EU start with a 19% VAT so EU prices reflect this. MSRP's are currency adjusted so apples to apples. ADM's are transaction to transaction. You cannot compare EU to US prices or any prices at all without taking all of this into account.

Generally speaking preowned RHD cars sell for less than LHD as the market for them is much smaller. May not apply to 911R at this point in time.

I would not take the result of one sale at a Monterey auction to be representative of the market. I would also take issue with a generalization that a black car will bring significantly more than a white or silver car as there just haven't been enough sold to establish this as a fact. To the true collector the issue is how the car is equipped while the individual who wants to drive and enjoy the car will have less concern with what cosmetic accessories are on the car.

The British R sold by RM conversation was not about EU taxes and other factors influencing the value of a R over there versus here. We know that. It simply points out that someone in England just like here would gladly pay double for a 2016 R versus a 2018 GT3 Touring. The PCA article was just that, an opinion and yes, not a market guideline but still an indication of the appeal of a very special factory car that the buy new window has past us by.

Did not read the PCA article but that RM Battersea Evolution auction R is not a $435k all-in car (hammer $395k) in the US. Discount 19% off the hammer and its $331k ($365k all-in) a price it might command here (at auction) on a good day with a strong wind at its back. R market pricing in general may be about the R new purchase window having passed. But the price of this car v. the US is mostly all about VAT.
To point, the auction notes state: Please kindly note this vehicle has either been driven for no more than 6000 kilometres from new or is less than 6 months of age from new. Due to this, vehicle can be considered as ‘new’ for VAT purposes an end destination outside of the UK. Please be sure to contact your local tax authorities for confirmation prior to purchase. VAT on the initial purchase has been paid in the United Kingdom.
The 20 mile Black R at RM Pebble hammered for $340k - exactly - as we predicted.

Huh? Every car I've looked at/bought in the UK is a meaningful premium for RHD. And premium to currency adjusted LHD cars in Europe/US. I'm sure there are some exceptions.
