What you have seen are most likely the aluminum finish gauges - option code X71. There was also a painted gauge option X34, though this is extremely rare.

Lots of aftermarket gauge faces out there also - you can tell them as they do not typically have the warning light 'windows' that the OEM have.

Thank you! Would you say aftermarket gauges are something to worry about when looking for 993t's?
