The new Porsche 718 Cayman S: inspired by a legacy of performance, the new 718 models harken back to the race-winning 4-cylinder Porsche 718 from the 1960s. As equipped, this 718 Cayman S will reach 60 mph in less than 4.0 sec! The incredible new variable-turbine turbo-4 engine produces a healthy 350 hp and 309 ft-lbs of torque.
And now you can finally brag to your friends that YOUR car has Plasma Transfer Wire Arc cylinder wall coating* with hypoeutectic aluminum silicon alloy (AlSi7MgCu3) crankcase**! FINALLY!!!
[* PTWA process is used to apply a ferrocoat (iron) to the cylinder walls to reduce friction, add strength, and improve heat transfer. Similar to a process used in the manufacturing of jet turbines. A specific and uniform amount of porosity results in the layered coating that gives the cylinder walls a better ability to retain lubricating oil, while forming a very hard, low-friction surface. Finally, diamond honing is used to give the cylinder walls the appropriate final dimension and smooth, cross-hatched finish.]
[**AlSi7Cu 0.5Mg crankcase is also new. Less silicon is needed because of the new PTWA cylinder wall coating^^^. Instead of the previous Alusil treatment, which required more silicon in the alloy, the new process is a separately applied coating so silicon content in the alloy is not critical for giving the finished cylinder walls the appropriate composition and texture.]
(and yes, I copied that last part from my other 718 Cayman S listing)

MSRP is $87140, now offered at $76640 (plus applicable taxes and fees).

This 718 Cayman S is equipped just right for the driver looking for performance and luxury. With PDK transmission, Sport Chrono Package, PASM Sport, Navigation, Connect Plus w/Apple Carplay, and so much more!

Model year 2017 vehicles not required to have rear camera (in the USA), but Porsche gave all sports cars rear camera and front/rear park assist as standard equipment starting with 2017 model year.

Sometimes dealers mark a car 'sold' for internal purposes, I think typically to achieve certain sales milestones that trigger PCNA incentives. Nothing shady about the practice, but it starts the warranty clock, so if they 'punched the warranty', the car would already be partially the factory warranty.

Not saying that is the case with this car, I was just asking the question. Looking at the build sheet, it looks like a September production so by the time it got to the dealer, likely October, so probably not in this case. I was just wondering as often the higher discount cars have had their warranties punched.

Perhaps Michael could correct/clarify my description of the process and let us know if that is the case with this car.

Sorry to side-track the thread, it is a great looking Cayman... If it was a manual, I'd be seriously tempted. Still a bit uncertain about getting PDK.

Thanks for the question. This one is new, un-punched, without RDR, still on MSO/MCO... whatever you want to call it, as long as you call it "New!"
And your description is pretty accurate, although it's more often PCNA, rather than the dealer, who tries to get the punch. When a new model comes out PCNA likes to show PAG that everything is a success, so PCNA asks/requires the dealers to punch most launch cars. Anyway, that's my interpretation. It's mostly done so that things look good and we can earn more allocation. But occasionally it's to cash in on incentives. [but not in this case]

With all of the endless chatter on RL about bad dealerships (or "stealerships"), it should be pointed out that Mike Ludes at Capital Porsche has to be among the most honest and conscientious of dealers in the country. I rank him #1 and put my money where my mouth is -- I live on the other side of the country and I still buy my Porsches from him. How you are treated matters.

Somehow this perfect 718 Cayman S is still in my inventory... it's time to move! At $76600, it's priced right in the middle of the pre-owned 2017 718 Cayman S in the USA. BUT THIS ONE IS BRAND-NEW! Just over 100 miles, never punched/RDR'd/loaned... warranty starts the day you buy it!

Caymans in general are Porsche's high-value car--meaning you get a great car for the money--and this one is priced to even maximize that paradigm. Beautiful, too, in Agate with the silver wheels.
