Amazing! Would love to own one someday, along with an F1 and F40 right at the top of my list.

I believe that he has considered that but Canepa imported the car originally. I'll run that by him though. Thank you.
GREAT CAR! |
^very true :roflmao:

True, canepa can federalize it for you, which is actually required for most states, not just Ca. Some have a 25 yo rule, but I wouldn't bank on it if I were you.

It has been federalized by Canepa. They were the ones that did the original import from Japan. It is still not California smog legal as far as the owner has been made aware of. He was checking into registering it as a historic in order to beat the smog but for some reason he said that still wouldn't work. Car is still available and is absolutely gorgeous.

Should be able to be fully registered under the 25 year rule - me thinks. It would need to meet 1987 restrictions and that's it.
Gift it to me and I'll see what I can do to register and drive this baby. No problem taking one for the team! |
Why is it not Ca smog legal if its federalized, that's actually part of the process?
Does it just need a set of modern cats? Typically, its the laws of the state the year it was manufactured/ imported. Since Porsche never officially imported them, therein lies the issue that canepa should've addressed. Just trying to help out. Glws C |
As far as I have been made aware the owner has exhausted every option to make it smog legal. He bought the car and registered it in Reno, NV. Then moved to California and has been trying to get it passed for some time now. I will touch base with him soon to go over exactly what options he has taken.
