1981 911sc - RSR Type Build for Street/Track

10 Attachment(s)
Beautiful blue RSR-style Porsche 911 build that works as both a street hot-rod and a track car. The car runs great and is a real head-turner. I’m selling the car since I just moved, and I won’t have time to use the car for nearly a year.

  • 1990 3.6L 964 motor
  • 275hp to wheels with stock cams and Bosch motronic injection
  • Custom chip tuned on dyno
  • Lightweight plastic intake manifold
  • Carrillo rods
  • Aase springs and retainers
  • Ported heads
  • Two front engine oil coolers
  • Last major service and tuneup in June 2017

  • Passenger's 5-point harness valid until Oct 2017 (FIA)
  • Lexan rear window and driver/passenger windows
Transmission
  • Close ratio 915 transmission
  • Elevated Wevo shifter (close reach to steering wheel)
  • Last transmission servicing/rebuild was March 2016
  • New Guard limited slip differential installed March 2016
  • 930 axles and flanges on transmission

European exhaust headers go into one of three included exhaust options:

  • Straight pipe
One set of wheels with Nitto NT-01 275/40/17 and 315/35/17 tires is included with the car:
  • 9x17F and 11x17R Lindsey Fuchs Wheels (silver/black set shown on most photos)
Two additional sets of wheels/tires are also available at additional cost:
  • 9x17F and 11x17R Kinesis (silver/silver set shown on some photos)
  • 9x17F Etoile and 12x17R Kinesis
Car was built by Mark Kinninger at Black Forest Porsche in San Diego.
  • At the 2007 PCA Parade in San Diego, the car was the fastest 911 and third overall in autocross out of 400 cars entered.
  • The car has dozens of top finishes at PCA autocrosses and time trials since then.
  • The car has also logged thousands of street miles since built.
  • Estimated 25K total miles on car since 2007 build
  • Car can be smogged in CA, but doesn’t come with certification.
  • An article about the car build was published in the May 2008 issue of Excellence magazine (Issue #164).
Recent (2016 season) lap times for the car on Nitto NT-01 tires
  • Laguna Seca 1:40.3
  • Chuckwalla Valley Raceway (CCW) 1:56.3
  • Buttonwillow Raceway (#13CW) 1:55.3
  • Willow Springs International Raceway 1:29.9

The car’s paint and body are in good shape. The front of the car was just repainted in Dec. 2016, and all of the exterior photos were taken Oct 2016 and March 2017. I have many more photos available to share with interested buyers.

I completed a pre-purchase inspection on the car in June 2017. The issues that were found during that inspection were addressed, and the engine top-end was serviced and thoroughly inspected during the process. I can share the PPI report with any serious buyers.

Asking: $49,000 (no trades, cash only)
(Includes all items mentioned above unless otherwise noted).

Looks like she's a blast to drive!

I've had some interest, but for now, the car is still available. I just added some more info along with some lap times for the car in 2016 on some Southern California tracks.

I've had some more interest, but still no sale yet. I updated the post with some additional information based on the questions that I've been receiving from interested parties.

I just updated some of the photos and the pricing. I made some of the additional items options instead of bundling them all into one price, since some people may not want all of the options.

Trailer?

Which Trailex trailer that is hauling your car? And is the trailer for sale now or...?

mk911sc 01-18-2017 07:40 PM

It's a Trailex CT-7541.
I'm planning to give the eventual buyer of the car the first option on the trailer, and if they don't take it, then yes, it's for sale. I have another local San Diego guy who expressed interested in the trailer last month, but I'll keep you in mind in case neither of them end up taking it.

Bump for a great car and seller. I just missed buying this car years ago and have always regretted it. Mark Kinninger is arguably the best early 911 mechanic in San Diego and it is very well set up. Anyone looking for the epitome of an "analog" 911 driving experience won't be disappointed.

Good luck in your relocation, Marcus. We'll miss you in SDR. You've been a great asset to the club.

TT

The car is still available, and I just added some glamour shots that my friend took with the whale tail installed on the car.

Wow. Beautifully built!

How does it do on the street?

I've driven it on the street from time to time. Anyone that would want it as a street-only car would probably want to make some comfort modifications, like different seats and softer suspension setup. It's set up as a turn-key track car right now, but it's definitely possible to make it into a street hot-rod.
