Looking for aluminum trailer, open or closed

Looking for a lightweight (SUV appropriate) trailer.
would prefer enclosed to open

Would prefer:
Trailex or Montrose enclosed
Trailex or Featherlight open

Towing SPB or 911 behind a Cayenne.

If there is another brand comparable to Trailex, featherlight or Montrose I am open to that

If trailer does not have a tire rack, I'll want to add tire rack or beams as appropriate to the trailer for two sets of tires

Open to rent an open for the summer

/Dan

i really like my Montrose
i pull it behind my Cayenne Turbo.

SPB fits nicely. I’ve got 24’, but that gives me room for a dove tail, tool chest and work bench up front and a tire rack in front of that.

They were east to deal with. I drop shipped my solar system and they installed that for a nominal charge.

I added the dovetail to handle my RSR and they extended the ramps to 12’.

the tire rack holds a square second set and a staggered rain setup plus a spare trailer wheel.

they’ll pretty much build to suit.

it was about 25% cheaper than a comparable Trailex at the time.

Im tow It to Road Atlanta this weekend
so if there are any other pix you want, lmk.

Note, I dinged the front with my RV (since fixed locally), I have 0 issues with my Cayenne.

You are one reason I am interested in the Montrose

Actually, you are one reason I am interested in the Montrose. I spoke to Montrose and they were super friendly and helpful. I mentioned you to them.

And yes, less expensive than Trailex and seems more customizable.
I loved what I saw in the Montrose.

The only problem is they have no available inventory and a 3 month lead time on new orders.
(same would be true with Trailex, but I like the Montrose more)

Headed to Road America in a few hours via Shreveport -- we'll see how she does -- I might want that fuel carrier tow option as that Cayenne sure is thirsty!

I do have a PitBuddies(?) four gas can holder strapped to the rear inside of the trailer -- I make sure to start with the cans full (and tied down) -- I had to use them in northern Oklahoma one time as the gas station lacked Premium fuel!

Did you have them add E-Track on the walls etc to help tie down misc stuff?

Bill Lehman 04-12-2021 07:06 PM

I have a Trailex CT-7541 with winch, relatively new tires and new wheel bearings which I'm planning to sell. I'm in SE PA. PM if interested.

So, It’s official, Bill?

Dan, buy Bill’s trailer. A cayenne and an open trailer will be the easiest rig you’ve had in a while. (does your car have windows?)

dan212 04-12-2021 10:32 PM

Hmm this is interesting.
No windows on car but they can be added!!
Sent Bill a PM

Is this Trailer FS post on a separate thread? If not, is it still FS? How much, where, etc?

Yes - saw it. Great price for sure. We exchanged some PM's.

I was tempted, but between Ann and I - at least one of us must have an enclosed trailer. I ordered a Montrose for delivery later this summer.

I will pass your Hello to Ann for sure!!
See you at the track soon!
