WTB Trailex CT 7541 electric winch
I am looking for a electric winch that supports 3500 lbs. Any recommended models?
|
I've been using a Superwinch S4000 to load a Cayman S and now a GT4 on my 7541. I ordered the trailer with the Trailex winch mount and modded the mount to accept the Superwinch.

Whatever you do, get a synthetic rope.

I have an enclosed trailex as well with a WARN electric winch. Works great and has wireless remote. Call trailex or the warn webstite. They are very helpful.

3500 Pounds of pull is for loading a trashed car without rolling parts. Something to think about. Trailer floor must be able to survive a non rolling load. But, yeah, possibility does exist.

Thanks guys appreciate the feed back. I most likely will be going with the Superwinch s4000 with synthetic rope.

The electric winch also requires a battery correct
|
It can be wired using the tow vehicle 12v system. I use a battery mounted to the trailer and I charge it before every event.

You could use a small-ish battery to power the winch that is recharged via the tow vehicles 12v system, but not power the winch entirely. |
I couldn't find any s4000 winche so I called trailex and bought the one that they recommend WARN 94000 4000 DC Utility Winch
|
I added a winch to my trailex 7541 last year. I also added a battery to the trailer to power the winch and the battery is charged via the trailer plug when underway.
I unplug the trailer plug whenever using it because I don't want any problems with the tow vehicle electrical system. Also a Warn 4000 with the Trailex mounting kit. I used it the first few events but honestly it's a PITA. If your car can move under its own power it much easier and faster to drive on and off. |
Do you guys have any pictures of where your battery is mounted for the electric winch specially for my trailer |
I have an Optima big ass battery to power my winch and landing gear and that battery is connected to the truck charging system. I once tried to use it when the battery was dead with the truck running. Blew a fuse in the trailer. So never did that again. Still connected after 10 years and works fine as long as the battery is charged. Battery was flat because of long storage. Once charged, no problem.

Get a trapezoid storage box for your trailer tongue.
