BillNye, The truck does have rear AC which runs off of the engine. With the portable unit, I also have AC from shore or generator power. I installed a panel for the exhaust vent which is behind one of the exterior cabinet doors.

The hitch that I installed is made to fit the frame width of the Kodiak and allows adjustment for height.

Regarding weight and towing capacity, I haven't taken this across the scale. GCWR is 26K.

I have a 2010 Interstate 8.5x20 steel trailer I picked up from another racer for $4500. (The interior box is 8x20, exterior to hitch is 8.5’x24’8”.) It also serves as a storage place for the race car. The tow vehicle is our family car, a 2016 Range Rover Sport HSE with the diesel V6 and tow package. The rated tow capacity is a fairly solid 3500kg/7716lb, but tongue weight is only 250kg/550lb. Air suspension is really nice. Great ride, comfortable, nice interior, quiet, it’s great. The biggest weakness is probably the short wheelbase, but with the trailer loaded properly it hasn’t been a problem.

My towing with this setup is just short flat local hauls and it works really well for that. While I think it would be ok, if I want to go far I will consider renting a pickup just to save the RRS the abuse. With the wireless brake controller there’s not much to do.

I was at first concerned steel would mean heavy, but their claimed empty weight is just 2990 lbs. The comparable featherlite 4926 8.5x20 aluminum trailer is 2900 lbs. It seems trailer features drive weight far more than whether the frame is aluminum or steel.

The prior owner had already installed a cheap cabinet for gear, a vertical stack tire cabinet, and a harbor freight tool box at the front of the trailer. I bought a garage floor epoxy kit and wireless brake controller for it, and I’ll probably eventually throw some more paint on the steel frame as there’s some surface rust that I’d like to arrest. I figured I could either buy a nicer enclosed trailer or go really basic and use the extra money to fund the Spec Boxster build now. It wasn’t really a choice - I prioritized the race car and I’ll upgrade the trailer after the build is finished and I’m not spending as much developing the car.

Heading to California Festival of Speed one week ago. Figured out the wood blocks all on my own. I need a trailer I can park my car on in the garage. Anyone have any experience with this one. I really like it, but it's expensive.

Trailex enclosed with Audi Q7 Diesel. Total trailer weight with car is about 6000 lbs. Towed approx 20k miles through the worst possible weather and stop and go traffic without any problems. I do prefer to tow with the summer over the winter tires.

What's the tow rating for the Audi? I'm still deciding on what truck to buy and a small factor is picking up a Trailex for the GT4.

Nice setup BTW. Thanks for sharing.

6600 lb tow rating and air suspension. Unfortunately, they don’t make the Q7 diesel anymore.
