Michelin Defender LTX - on both a GMC 2500 and a Ford Expedition - quiet, good traction , all weather - long time Michelin tire user . . .
OP - - IIWM - I would get a bigger tow vehicle for a 6500 tow load . . . just sayin' . . . going to max tow capacity is a dangerous situation . . . IMHO of course . . .

We run the Scorpion Verde's on our Q7. We are also in need of tires soon so I've been looking around at options. The Pirelli's have much higher rating than any Conti on Tire Rack including the CrossContact LX Sport. I'll be buying another set, as we have been extremely happy with them, especially in the wet.

Actually, I’m towing 5000 lbs. that puts me at 65%, well within the limits and no where near max. Thanks.

To be accurate - it's 7,700 lbs for the Touareg and Cayenne. It's 6,600 for the Q7 due to the extra weight of the vehicle associated with the 3rd row seat. I've towed with a 1st Gen Touareg TDI rated at 7,700 lbs and a Q7 TDI rated at 6,600 lbs. The Q7 tows better due to the longer wheelbase.

Recently moved from the LTX to the Scorpion and like the latter slightly more for both dry and wet driving/towing. I've only had the scorpions on my Yukon XL for a few thousand miles, so cannot comment on life of the Scorpion vs LTX.
