car storage inside trailer
Hey guys.
I know there has been some discussion in the past of this, but I was going to ask again if anyone has more experience than me or additional info...
I've got a 10000# rated 24' InTech trailer. Typically, I store my track dedicated Cayman outside of it when I'm not at a track weekend/trip, but I am running out of space in my storage area.
Is there any harm or decrease in life of the axles/trailer/other issues to think about in storing a car in the trailer long term and only taking the car out to either track it or work on it?
I typically track about +/- 6 weekends a year.
Thanks guys/gals.

I hope not... a trailex enclosed is currently my third garage.
Probably the only thing I fear is theft, much easier when you package it all up and wrap a bow around it.

I do this all the time, but have wondered whether the dramatic temperature swings (extreme heat under sun mid day), followed by cooler nights would have a negative effect on the tires

I kept mine in my 20' inTech (w/ 5200lb axles as well) for the first 8 months of ownership this past year. Albeit the trailer is insulated which helps with temperature fluctuation in the TX heat a ton, but I've yet to experience any negative side effects- either with the trailer or car. I kept the car on a trickle charger inside the trailer (I have 120v access at my trailer storage) so I never needed to worry about the battery in the car or the trailer dying. Only other gripe would be its a hassle when you need to do a quick whatever on the car- it adds significant time and processes to the entire project. But hey, compromises must be made if you're out of actual garage space right?

My question wasn't so much if people do it...I know they do.
My question was does it decrease the life of the axles or trailer parts. The reason I asked is because in the Dexter axle manual that comes with the InTech trailers (picked up 11/2017), they (Dexter) recommend putting the trailer on jack stands on the trailer's frame during "storage," taking the tires off the hubs, and leaving the trailer held up of the ground. This would put zero weight on the axles during storage time. With the car and trailer weight, one is talking about 6500-7000ish pounds on the axles versus none. It seems that there must be a reason why Dexter is recommending what they do during trailer storage time.

I put jack stands under the trailer in the winter and cover the tires. In the past, before I started storing my tired in the basement, I would have a heater going 24/7 in the trailer. Now I turn on the heater only when it is supposed to get below 20 degrees and I am worried about a deep freeze in the engine.
Otherwise, I am fortunate to park my trailer in the shade of a tree in the summer so the temperature swings do not go up too badly.
You'll be fine.

Where do you all leave your trailers? I live in the NY metro area and while I have parking at the front of my house, I'm not sure I want to leave a giant trailer right at the edge of the street for aesthetic reasons. A lot of storage areas in my neck of the woods are crazy expensive and I am worried about security/damage to a nice trailer.

Hope this is some help, but there is a guy who posted (I think here on Rennlist) about his track car that was stored in an enclosed trailer in a humid climate. i recall that his wife may have fallen ill and he didn’t pay any attention to the car or trailer and it was moldy when he next accessed the car. I tried, but could not locate the post.

I have this one:
Little bit bigger, more stout and more headroom than an EZ-up 10x10. I have 2 sets of the disc weights that lock around its legs and it stays on the ground when other folks' are turning into flying umbrellas.
It's big, requires non-911 imo, but it looks like you're trailering.
