Default Trailer TPMS - what are you running?

Working on getting my new to me Trailex open trailer set up. I definitely want tire pressure monitoring and was wondering what folks have been using...

I have a TST 507 on our truck and trailer. It's been great.

there are some kits that let you use your cell phone as the screen and monitor, saves having another device on your dash.

With apple car play I would think you could get it to show up on the dash of your truck

I have been using this EEZTire system for a few years. It has saved me several times. I wouldn't tow without a TPMS monitor system.

Kevin,

Are you actually using this product?

I was looking for internal sensors and you can't beat the price.

Just want to make sure this actually works and that the range is sufficient for the trailer tires?

I am using valve cover caps currently on Trailex and an SUV with reader plugged into dash, range works. I am swapping out Trailer tires in a month (Goodyear) or so and will switch to in valve units. Will report back, but the caps worked fine. Battery life is an open question, had to replace cap batteries in year 2. So if that is the life span for the valve stems, that could be a pain.

Issue with caps is setting air pressure, then screwing on caps loses some air.

Same here, good luck with it for about a year. transmitters/sensors eats batteries though - buy spares.

I've been using tire minder. Looks like it might be more expensive than some of these options, but it has been reliable for 3 years and tells pressure and temps, with alarms when something goes wrong.

The eeze link says not to use on towed vehicles or trailers. Can they be used on trailers?

They absolutely can be used with towed trailers. If fact the set up guide shows how to configure your display so it rotates through the different sensors, including a trailer if attached, showing pressure, temperature and warning if any of the sensors falls outside of your programed limits.
