Default Why I HATE my side door

I was never able to use it, my car door hits the wheel well inside fender. So I screwed it from the inside to lock it. Apparently not well enough.

Is that the result of a break-in? What happened?

Yes a break in, I never use the door so I screwed it to the frame from the inside. That still did not help. They emptied everything, all my gear ( even underwear ), tools, and a 6300w Yamaha generator.

This really stinks to see. Sorry you are having to go through this. Did you have the trailer insured and are they covering it?

Sorry to see and hear about your break-in.

*note to self, install dead bolt on the inside of my trailer at the generator & ramp door.

Not loaded anymore, you guys are screwed. No more space parts. They even stole my underwear, socks, etc.. The bright side is that my tow vehicle fuel mileage will increase

Thanks Matt, The winch works better than having a door, especially with a packed trailer or damaged car. The worst part is all my driver gear is gone and now I will have to share Vali's suit. YUCK

At our industrial manufacturing plant in Southern California with a 24 hour security patrol that was sleeping in the car. I have been safe so far all over California, with that said I park at the hotels under a light and have the side man door face the hotel ( can see if its open ). Best thing DO NOT use our security guard service, it happened at 7:00am on Christmas Day. I had a Yamaha EF6300 generator mounted on the trailer tongue which was removed and carried over a 6' tall block wall. Gotta love our California tweakers.

I have a different latching mechanism on my trailer similar to this one.

Thanks, I have the same installed on my man door with Abus premium locks. I did not have that on the side door because I has screwed it from the inside to the frame, since I never use it. I will but a aluminum plate and rivit it between the door and the frame.

As a deterrent, at PRI, there was an alarm similar to the motion activated car alarms with siren and and key fob...but no tracking capabilities. I'll look for the card from the company....

I'm actually surprised I've never been hit given all of the hotels I've had to stay in with mine towing all over.
