FS: 1988 Porsche 944 Turbo Race Car
My 1988 Porsche 944 Turbo race car is for sale. I purchased the car in 2009 in near stock form and with the help of Kapps European, built it into a fast, reliable, great handling and race-winning car with many podium finishes. The car is located in Salt Lake City, Utah.
I raced this car extensively throughout the western United States with the PCA, POC, and NASA organizations through 2016 without a single race DNF. Over the winter of 2016/17, I had the engine professionally refreshed (new rod bearings, new valves, new head gaskets, rebuilt turbo, etc.) and while that was being done, installed a new custom roll cage, new fire suppression system, and had the entire car painted inside and out in its original color and redid the exterior livery colors. Unfortunately, after this +$10,000 refresh, I was only able to race the car once in 2017 and am now looking for a buyer that will have as much fun with it as I have had. This car is RACE READY with nothing required to race the car next weekend. Its newly rebuilt engine produces approximately 260RWHP/302lbs torque at 13 psi of boost. The stock turbo will provide additional usable boost up to 14.5 psi - beyond that too much heat is generated - a larger K-26#8 turbo could be easily installed to increase the power if desired. The car is very well sorted, is corner balanced to 49.9% cross weight and the suspension adjusts easily. It weighs 2600 lbs without driver. The car has had no known crash damage (none by me, and none known from before my ownership). The frame is straight, and there is no rust or corrosion.
