First, demand: Last year Porsche sold 600 cars in Norway, this year they have 3,000 pre-orders. This tells you something about how much demand can ramp up for BEVs.
Second, I am not surprised that a lot of the orders come from Tesla owners. One, they now know from experience how nice an all electric car can be so be a lot more willing to buy a second BEV. Second, most people I know who have more than one car have totally different cars because of needs or just to have variety.
Porsche already is ramping up production from what they first expected demand to be, do not be surprised if next year they sell over 50K cars.

Very good insight, so concerning the taycan, I have heard they will make 20,000 units in the first year, have you heard that? And do you think in The article they were referrring to the 20,000 having deposits put down? Thanks

Ramping up
I see lots of happy suppliers working overtime to meet the extra orders and the autoworkers may even need to add a third shift with over-time produce enough cars.
Oh poor, poor Porsche being forced to meet it's customers needs, must suck to be them (joking).

Good information, thanks, now here's hoping we can get it in concept form, I know everyone says the mule will be it, but if they put the taycan in the number one spot in their museum and have it in the 70 year celebration, you gotta think it might.. just might be close.. so 50k units, so not rare, but still the first all electric Porsche..

I am going to guess the biggest roadblock to these increased production figures is battery availability. So many automakers are going to be building EV vehicles over the next year or so ( MB, Audi, Jaguar, Ford, and Chevy to name a few) and battery production is a common requirement for them all. I am not sure that enough capacity will exist to provide the demand.

Batteries
yeah, I think you are right, that could be a big issue, this is what I have found about it

Well, the sales are there: https://insideevs.com/porsche-first-...cans-sold-out/ points out if you have not ordered already you may have to wait a while.

Good article, I am glad I am on the list, I would not be surprised if another list for 2021 taycan will start in January,
on another note, anyone know anything about the two speed gear system, shifting and such?
thanks!
