I know it's not a photo or the production car, but why can't the hood close over the wheel arches?
This is a computer generated image/render utilizing the Mission E concept. Porsche’s launch strategy is getting bad with the Taycan... they keep showing the mission e as if it will be the production version. They are misleading people and when the real deal is launched most will be let down/disappointed. Porsche needs to stop the smoke and mirrors already.

It took me a moment to realized that the image was CGI. I didn't see that mentioned in some of the articles online. I agree that Porsche is setting themselves up for a lot of misery by continuing to use the Mission E concept for PR so late in the game, if the Taycan turns out looking closer to the prototypes used for testing than the concept. Maybe that's indication that we should be optimistic regarding the final product, or maybe Porsche is arrogant enough to assume people will buy it regardless.

I didn't follow this saga for the more recent model years, but Porsche went through a lot of pain with the Macan clamshell hood for the initial production year(s) (or maybe the pain was more on the owner's side when the front doors would catch on the clamshell in hot weather). Not sure if the lesson would be come up with a better clamshell design this time around, or to go with a more conventional setup. As you said, the prototypes suggest that the final design is much more conservative than the concept.
Absolutely - I think they have embarked on a very dangerous approach to marketing over the last few years e.g. the 718 and T fiction to name a couple - as if throwing a letter or a number at vehicle gives it a history - which it doesn't.
Credibility is hard to build but very easy to lose.
