I've been looking to purchase an older Model S. I'm tired of of my Prius and need a DD that qualifies for NY's car pool lanes. I'm not willing to take a hit on car car I don't really want so the M3P is out. That Jaguar looks disgusting...

The only think I like better about the Model S is the larger screen and double gauge layout. Otherwise, Model 3 hands down.

Also, considering what used Model S's are selling for these days....at least in my area, I'd much rather go the Model 3 route. Unless you're buying a very old / high mileage Model S in the 30's range.

While very subjective, I just couldn’t pull the trigger on the model 3 when my reservation came up just because I couldn’t get past its looks. Just looks goofy from the front and back to me. The higher roof adds to the awkward look. I think the S is much better liking. Those are clearly superficial reasons and the 3 is definitely a great car though.

looks have grown on me - but yeah - style wise it could be better - it drives really well so and it's a great commuter car - that's enough for me - but I understand.

I put down a deposit in August and have a commission number. I was told that the build slot would be in 2019. Due to changing circumstances, it looks unlikely that I will move forward with the car. Should I just request to get my deposit back? Or is there any value in an early build slot to sell?

Just curious, if I stayed with it, would the next step be a "production number" or "order number"?

With the pricing it will be a no go for me too. $90K~130K is just too much of premium to pay for a car that should be priced between the Model 3 and Model S. Most of us will happily hand over Porsche our hard earn money for its engine and drivetrain technologies. In the case, however, Porsche has not established its EV technology leadership yet. Just can't justify paying that much for a pretty ordinary car (benchmarking Tesla). Plus battery and eletronics in the new car are not tried and true in reliability like in cars made by Tesla or even GM. Will see how things stand in a couple more years.
