Really? Other than Tesla's backlog, what's the basis for that? Many forecast an ongoing 100K per year for MS + MX and MAYBE 200K per year for M3,
i.e. hardly much more than a niche player.

the company continues to confound - they make sooooo many mistakes and still have a lot of problems and yet they do things like this… they continue to have an impact.

Tesla just reported $300M profit. 20% margins. $800M positive cash flow.

Model 3 was #1 car model in the U.S. in Q3 in terms of revenue, #5 in terms of # of units. The latter number only beat by Camry, Civic, Accord, and Corolla. Elon says Q4 will be even bigger.

A lot of Tesla haters here!
I traded in my 911 and my Macan in for a Model X.
Why did I go with Tesla rather than waiting for the Taycan (which I think will do very well)?
•Technology
Tesla's auto steer is so far ahead of anything out there. It's one feature that I use all the time . Being able to turn it on for long road trips or stop and go traffic is a dream.
Also, the Tesla interface Is phenomenal, Having everything on your screen is so intuitive and it make the interior look so clean.
You look at he Jag interface and it's kind of.a mess.
• Design
I love the Model X interior design. My car can comfortably seat 6 and still has tons of storage. The captain seats are the bomb.
•Supercharger network
I rarely use the supercharger, but it's great for long trips or if you want a quick fill up. You can go coast to coast using the supercharger network. If you buy a Jag (or any other non-Tesla full electric car), there is no way you are going on a road trip. Your charging would take hours.
•Commitment
I like how Tesla is all in. No hybrids, all electric. You may not like Musk, but he had a vision and he is delivering on it.

Be careful. The guy in the Mountain View accident didn't get any alert from the car before crashing into the barrier.

Yes. Sorry. I just don't like that the media didn't uncover this part of the story and a lot of Tesla drivers still rely on the car thinking it will alert them.

I'm from the BMW world, looking around here, might be a potential owner of a Panamera. And following the autonomous technology as it is related to my job.

Umm, it's a driver's aid. It's not meant to be self driving.

Latest software update missed some quality checks. This was reported by many owners recently. For some it happened on the highway, usually triggered by a discontinuity of the left divider line.

And the point is?
Tesla only recommends using autopilot on the highway.
Like I said, it's a driver's aid. If you decide to take a nap and let the car totally drive, then you are on your own.

My point is that people don't know this which makes it dangerous. Based on a recent poll 28% of people think Tesla is autonomous. Thanks to the false marketing started with calling the driver assistance "Autopilot". And the latest about Model 3: “All Tesla vehicles produced in our factory, including Model 3, have the hardware needed for full self-driving capability at a safety level substantially greater than that of a human driver.” These are misleading and don't represent the current status of the development.

The people in the research didn't necessarily own Tesla. But given the accidents publicized and the minor accidents I read about on Tesla forum, many Tesla drivers don't know the limitations of the system.

@acoste why are you posting on the Porsche forums - and all 10 of your noob posts are about Tesla auto-pilot and your distaste for it - great we got it - what are you adding to the conversation about Porsche?

I smell an agenda and possibly a troll.

How do you think new users start out around here? Sign up, find a topic they have an interest in. And for someone who is only a “user” yourself, being a dick isn’t quite flattering for you.
