GT2 folding carbon fiber buckets were available through 991 in RoW. Now if you talking about the non-folding LWBS, yes those were only available in the US starting with the 991.1. Both were available (RoW NOT-US) at the same time until approximately late 2019. At that point only non-folding LWBS were available.

When I bought my base 991.1 four years ago it had LWB, I sold them to a fellow Rennlister for his 997.1 GT3RS. If I remember right I sold them for $8500

I'm interested to buy an R. The buckets are a meaningful part of the car's appeal.

I won't bid on that car without the buckets. Especially since the buyer has the seats and has diminished the car. This is an example of someone who I don't want to do business with.

5 total seat options on 987 models:
There are two comfort seats...manual and power
There are two sport seats...manual and adaptive
Then sport bucket seats (aka carbon LWBs)

For the R, manual and adaptive sport seats were both available downgrade options, but neither comfort seat was an option.

I also see a scenario where he will have shot himself in the foot with the strategy. He's banking on a different bidder than you.

The better way to execute this maneuver would be to start with a Spyder with LWBs and switch them out for sport seats.

I understand that perspective, but I don't think it speaks to the guy's integrity or anything. He wants the buckets for a GT3, and it would cost him a small fortune out of pocket to get them, whereas he would only net another ~ 5-8k on this sale with them in the car. An unpopular decision for would-be-buyers, but not a ding on his character as a seller . .

If I was bidding, and the final # stayed reasonably low, I'd offer him cash to include the buckets. Less than market, but enough to tempt . . .

Yeah but if a buyer wants a cayman R with buckets and the buckets have been removed he is going to be willing to pay $20k less than if it still had the buckets so you are gaining nothing by removing them. For me it would even be more than $20k less because I don't want to go through the hassle and risk of buying a shipping expensive seats. Just doesn't make sense to remove them unless the car is being parted out or turned into a dedicated track car.

That's the hitch. No one pays 20k more for a car with buckets. This was not a 90k car with buckets included, and that's what seller was facing - keep the unobtanium seats for his next car, or secure a mildly higher result with them in the car.

Back to the main event - 70 was a pretty solid result considering wreck w/ unknown degree of damage, miles, and no buckets . . .

This ^^^ is the truth. It makes sense financially to do what he did. But as car enthusiasts, I think we all look down on this, justifiably in my opinion.

I think $70k was neither high nor low. You mentioned the cons of the car, but it also has PCCB and is Peridot, which each on their own typically add a premium. So I think it's right where it should be. With Spyder wheels and the buckets I think it'd have gotten close to $80k, even with the downsides you mention.

wife and I are looking for a car for the long term that she can also drive. Haven’t found what I’m looking for and if we can’t find a Spyder we are going for a 2.5L 718 BGTS.
